Healing Broken Hearts: A New Journey in Life

How do you even begin healing broken hearts and begin a new journey in life? If you’ve been hurt so badly that you don’t even care to live past the next second, where and how do you even find it in you to keep going?

Are these questions that you have asked yourself or recently felt in your heart? So many of us have felt this way at one time or another. It’s called grief and being overwhelmed with it to the point of have PSTD. Yes, this feeling is a real thing and yes, trauma can cause any human to have PTSD. We often think of that term for only our Service men and women to have but in an abusive situation or on ongoing emotional or mental abuse, it can really happen to us. The trauma causes our brain to be affected and it can cause it to reset in a way that harms it for a while. If it’s left unhealed or undealt with it can lead to very devasting effects. This is why acknowledgement and healing ourselves is important to gaining back life and eventually a healthy life with freedom.

My Story

My story begins around the age of 5 when a family member began touching me inappropriately. Of course as a little girl not knowing that I could tell someone and not get into trouble, it continued. In my teenage years another family member did the same and I found myself as I got older, not caring for my body in a way that was good. It lead to a few years of just enjoying life in so many ways that was harmful to myself. When I started dating my children’s father I knew to abstain until marriage but that was not the choice by either one. So before I was married and before I graduated from high school, I was carrying my daughter Doris. I latter had my son Danny and I thought I was living the good family life. Do my dismay, my children’s father was living another life style that did not include me, so I moved back home and filed for divorce.

I soon met a gentleman who was very charming and I enjoyed his attention. Knowing this person was off limits to me didn’t stop my desire to see him and be with him. I had just been hurt and I believe I felt I could act the same way no matter who it hurt. Yes, I was wrong, terribly wrong. We married 5 years after the first date and had a marriage for 22 years when suddenly that all came to a stretching halt because of his unfaithfulness. I would give this man 7 chances before I finally had enough and completely stopped all conversations and contact with him. The 7 chances included remarrying him after the first divorce and finding out within 3 months that nothing had changed, that the contact with the other person had never stopped. Now I was completely devastated and I was done with life. I had gone through so much mental and emotional abuse that I couldn’t handle it anymore. In February, 2018 I was ready to tell the world goodbye and it didn’t matter to me who got hurt because of my actions. I couldn’t think of that because I was in a deep pain and it was a dark place. I made one call to say goodbye and they informed my mother who was only a couple blocks away at the time. God had that in place already. She came through the back door and wouldn’t let me accomplish my plan. Today I can be very thankful for that. The enemies plan was cancelled and I am here today. Here today to be transparent to others and let others know they can make it through the rough journey as well.

What do you do now?

My story doesn’t end there, nor have you heard all the other things that have happened in my life. Do you know that there is a reason and purpose for everything that happens in your life? There is, Ecclesiastics 3:1-8 tells us this. These scriptures have been my life verses as long as I can remember. I also taught them to my children and grandchildren and they can tell you today that everything happens for a reason. We don’t have to understand why, we just need to know that we will make it through and there’s a greater plan ahead.

Now is the time to heal, it’s time to let go of all the things that have weighed us down and time to regain our lives. To have the freedom to live life to the fullest and enjoy what God has blessed us with. For some it may take a miracle to get through all the deep pain and hurt. For others it may take medical attention and sessions with an appropriate counselor. And it may be that others can go through recovery work with others and have a support group, and just thrive is life. However it has to be done, the great blessing is, it will happen if you choose. If you’re ready to begin the healing journey, it will happen. Finally realizing there is more to life than pain, than grief and that you can do it. Seeing there is freedom to obtain and hold onto. Finding out who you really are, what you want in life and obtaining it because you’re worth it. Knowing that God created you and only you. Created you for a plan and a purpose.

Conclusion

If you’re ready to begin the next journey if life and you’re ready to not just survive life but to begin thriving, I am here to encourage you, inspire you and support you. There are three ways that I can help you. First One is being your recovery coach and supporting you as you go through a 1 year recovery course. Digging deep into yourself to find the hurts and gaining knowledge on how to process and remove it. Second One is being your recovery coach and working through the program in a 90 days. This could be for someone who needs to finish finding the pain and maybe not needing to do such deep work. The final and Third One is to be your recovery coach and learn how to set greater boundaries and plans for moving ahead in life. I love to see others healed and thriving in life.
