How Are Disciples Created

“Go into all of the world preaching the gospel and making disciples.” Isn’t this the great commission or doctrine that churches put as their highest declaration to accomplish, It is a statement that Christ surely wants us to do. Otherwise why would He have ever mentioned it? Does it really have any bearing on us or who He wants us to be? I believe it absolutely does. Why would we want to hold onto all of the great knowledge that we have, and keep it to ourselves? Why wouldn’t we want others to become Christ Like as we are trying to do? So is it our duty then? You might call it that but I would like to call it, having His Heart. He was always sitting down teaching others. Asking them to walk with Him, partake in the events and gatherings. His heart did this, so why can’t ours?

Discipleship

To me discipleship is so much more than a commission, it is a vision and a desire of our heart. If Jesus can lead me through all of  my journey’s to gain greater knowledge and direction, why can’t I share that with someone who has the desire to follow Him as well? He didn’t take me through all the things in life to just have it held inside and go unlearned or shared. If we have an experience where it can encourage others , what a great gift we can give them. Sometimes that’s all anyone wants to hear, is that someone else can understand their pain and knows what they are talking about. Validation is what any broken heart wants to have. Helping others in knowing that they too, can overcome, grow, be restored and receive redemption from the pains of their life. And don’t you think they will want to go and do the same for others? So it becomes like a ripple effect,  it can keep going on and on to others. A true work from the 12th Step of the Big Book of AA as well.

Pay it forward or establish the Great Commission

When we help others in or through recovery groups, groups, ministry classes, counseling, leading, coaching or whatever avenue we take, we are helping them to not only become stronger and healthier but every word spoken will come back to us. And it helps us in our walk with Christ as well. What a fabulous concept He arranged when He spoke those words, ” Go into all the world and make disciples,”  don’t you think? Then we should listen to what the scripture is leading us to do and learn to have His heart in all this.

Take your journey, make it something you can share with others, put yourself out there, let others know your story. The can hear your story and you can also listen to theirs.  Make a plan to disciple them in His Word, His Truth, His Knowledge and increase with helping many others as they will  go out to do the same fulfilling the Great Commission.

Conclusion

Discipleship, it is a word we kind of take lightly and yet it is such a powerful word. What will you do with this word today? How will you go out into the world sharing the love of Jesus and create disciples?

Blessings to all as you go forth and make disciples fulfilling the Great Commission.
